It's now the last week of a genius hour!! I have had such a good time with this project and really enjoyed taking pictures and learning more about photography. Each week I have tried to take pictures of something new or take it from a different perspective to where I learn more. I have grown so much and after all the research I did I feel like I grew my skills a lot. This weekend I visited Topsail Beach and I decided to use my pictures from there for this week. We were going over a bridge and I thought the lighting was just perfect. I was able to edit the sky by changing the contrast so that it looks more vibrant(especially the clouds). A lot of my pictures have been more laid back and nothing too special because that's the best way I like to take them. I decided not to use an actual camera in my project because we are not in a very modern world where iPhone cameras are at about the same pixel as a real camera. I also thought it was more realistic that I used my phone because that is what I normally take pictures on and It didn't seem like I would be making any progress if I didn't learn how to edit and take photos on my day-to-day camera.
and enjoy this cute picture of Parker I included for fun!!!

This is now week 11 of genuis hour. I am working on finals detail. Over the next week I will be working on my final prensation, I have a lot of kinks to work out so I have been trying to work ahead. This week I took pictures on my way to the gym every morning at 5:30 am. I took them in .05 times. I took them that way because it got a better view of the road and the sky view I was trying to capture. I had to edit this one quite a bit because I did not like the way my headlights affected the contrast of the sky and how dim they made the rest of the scene look. To fix these things and enchance the photo I turned the contrast down and the brightness down. This really affected the photo and made the sky more vibrant which was my goal. You can aslo see the road more visible now. I also made these changes so that you could see the outline of the cars interior accessioes better because in my opinon it looks cool.
IM SORRY THIS ISNT VERY LONG IT DELETED TWICE ON ME!!!!! It is now week 10 of the genius hour project and we have two weeks left. I am trying to decide what I want to do for the last two weeks and what I'm going to be taking pictures of. This week I have decided to change it up a bit and show some work pictures I took on the farm. This is a picture I took yesterday moving a truck bed with the Kubota. For this picture I didn't really focus on the background, I focused more on the tractor and its contrast of it. As you can see I didn't really change this photo so much. I turned up the contrast and tried to make the tractor more vivid. The black point was turned up and the focal point was moved to the tractor and off of the light outside. This is a bit different from my sunset pictures but I thought it was something fun and easy to take a picture of and edit.
As we're approaching the last final weeks I am going to be thinking of what I am going to be doing for my presentation. I need to make a really good presentation and be prepared so that I can get a good grade. I need to look up tips on how to present well, the video that was posted on the announcements did help me as well. This is now week 9 of genius hour project. I took a trip to Winston-Salem this week and I was on my way home I decided to take a few pictures of this beautiful sunset. I pulled my camera out and took a picture. This was not the easiest shot, in a moving car with the sun shining bright. I had to do lots of editing with this one to really make it able to see the contrast of the sun and the sky itself. My main photos have been on sunsets and the sky, I love to take this kinds of pictures. I had to turn down the brightness, adjust the contrast and make the focus point off of the sun. This really changed the picture and I can see a clear view of the sunset now and the road is much more visible. Over the last few weeks I am going to be changing up what I take pictures of. I need a focus change, so that I can edit differently and go into more detail. I had been using lightroom to edit my photos and I have been using the websites in my presentations as my resources, and they have been very helpful.
This week for genius hour I decided to use my spring break as a focual point and take pictures at the beach with my camera. It was very sunny outside so I had to adjust the light before taking my pictures and then turn down the tone. I didnt add a lens on the end this time and it still turned out well but I had to magnify out so that you could get a better view of the ocean. I was also on a elevated surface and not level with the groud so that made a differnce. The pictures did not turn out as well as I wanted but they did end up looking well because the weather was beautfiul. The sky was also really affected in my editing because it was a darker blue before I edited, then after it became a light blue and the clouds really faded in the after picture. I love taking pictures at the beach because you can edit them in so many ways. The ocean is a wonderful thing to capture with a camera, its so vibrant and colorful. Over the past eight weeks I have enjoyed taking pictures so much and I have learned a lot thorughout this proccess.
Here we are week 7. This project has been so fun the past seven weeks, it's taught me how to take much better pictures. Along with editing them and how to really capture the best light points of the view. I started capturing my photos differently this week, and next week I have decided to take pictures at the beach and really capture the ocean while I'm down there. This photo was taken downtown Winston Salem, I was driving home and had to stop and take a picture of the sunset. I couldn't really edit this one that much, I honestly thought that it was perfect without editing. I did lower the contrast and focus more on the sunset behind. I am really glad that I decided to stop and take this picture. It kinda has a funny story behind it because me and my friend were just driving around Winston Salem taking pictures and I tell her that I needed to stop on the side of the road to take my genius hour picture of the week. This is why I love taking photos because no matter where you are and what your doing you can capture a memory with one click. This is one of the reasons I decided not to use an actual camera for this project because I always carry a phone around with me but for a nice expensive camera that would be a lot more difficult.
This week for my genius hour project I visited Winston Salem. There have been warmer weather recently so I have been able to get some amazing shots of the sunset. In my research, I gathered that temperature and time of day affect the colors of the sunset. As you can see in these pictures I posted, one is edited and the other is not. I enhanced the contrast and turned down the brightness to really capture the reality of the colors. I am still studying the camera and figuring out how it works properly, I will begin taking more pictures this weekend and really enjoy them more. This is by far one of my favorite pictures I've taken, the sunset was just so beautiful that day and It honestly pained me to edit it because of the natural way it looked so good. It makes me think of how beautiful the earth can be without filters and without looking through a lens.
This week I planned on starting to use my camera and not my Iphone. I have found a camera that I plan on using and it is a Cameron. It has an alternative lens that I will be using and testing out. I have focused my pictures more on sunsets lately because I have found them easy to compare and contarst and there also my favotire thing to take pictures of. I have almost fully completed my research on the cameron camera and it will be uploaded on here soon. One I get the actual camera then you will be able to see a drastic change in my photos.
We had the clock turn forward this week so I had more time in the day to go outside and take photos, I play lacrosse so I have been thinking about editing my photos from playing. Just for a test run and to change the theme of my photos from nature to sports. Just for a week of my project, tell me in the comments what yall think about this idea. I would get someone to take pcitures of me while I play( we noramlly have a teamate photograpgher anyway) then I would edit them myself. Or I would take pictures of the jv team myself and do it that way. Here is some pictures taken of me this week(that I DID NOT take) but I did edit them Its now week three!!! I have had so much fun this week taking photos and messing with the features. I went through my camera roll and compared photos and the differnce I can see now is great. I am just starting up with it being week three but I will be advaincing from here on out. Its gonna get more insterting!!!!
This week was a very crappy weather week, I had planned on taking outside phots and sunset pictures but that did not turn out how I wanted it too. I did take some pictures and they will be uplaoded down below. I leanred this week that you have to try diffenrt angles and that brightness is a key feauture when taking phtos. Espcially when your using a Iphone camera. If you take photos at a certian time of the day then it affects it as well. The sun can be a key compent, sometimes its beautfiul and other times it messes with your whole photo. Next week I will be trying to get a actual camera and doing research on it and studying how it works. You will a dramtic change in my photos and that I actually will have differnt experinces than on my Iphone. Photos: |
